Getting back on track

With the month drawing to a close I figured it'd be a good time to finally update the blog. After a shocking July, August has gone pretty well, almost getting me back on track. I've not put in much volume (around 27k hands) but I've skillfully managed to run well above EV and blink 5th place in the PRK 500 for $3.6k. I was obviously happy with the result but really had my eye on 1st. It wasn't to be with me loosing a flip with 88 Vs the table shorty's QJ, had I won the hand I'd have been close to chip leader with only 4 to go. A few hands later I shoved over an open with AQ for 10-15bbs, unfortunately for me the pfr woke up with AK and that was the end of my tournament.

As usual I'm struggling to think of things to photoshop so for now you can laugh at my last 10k hands, been fairly swingy as 5/10 hasn't been great this month.

Wongadunce and Variance

Last month got me thinking about the variance in poker, I only finished down 4 BI's for the month however with all my looses at 2/4 and 5/10 winning lots of BIs at 1/2 wasn't really going to make much difference. The result was a month in the region of -10k. This was exaggerated by me playing like a moron for the last few days of the month, I can think of several BIs which I lost purely down to tilt, not to mention all the other less obvious mistakes I must have been making.

Anyway back to the variance bit, I decided to go though my HEM and have a look at how some of the other regs on PKR were doing, obviously the sample sizes aren't great but it was still pretty interesting to see how well/badly some are doing EV wise.

Here are some 'run good regs'

And now the run bads :(
