Wonga goes live

I got home on Monday after a long weekend in London for PKR live. Yet again PKR managed to pull off a great event, I was somewhat disappointed that there was no drinks reception as there have been in previous years. I guess this is due to the fact that the tournament is now open to anyone as opposed to the elite PKR players. I travelled up to London on Thursday with fellow poker player and good friend Brother M where we booked into our penthouse sweet (Premier Inn). We then headed straight to the Fox Poker Club as we were both entered into day 1a.

Day 1 was pretty meh for me, I hit a few big hands early on but only managed to get a couple of streets worth of value, I made a debatable fold w/TT after I squeezed pre in position Vs a fairly active opener. I got CR'd by him on a 9xx board, I pealed kind of expecting him to shut with with everything but his monsters as my hand was face up as an overpair, the turn was a J which he shipped, I ended up tank folding as I really didn't think he was bluffing often enough to make a call profitable. This is one of the reasons I hate tournaments, as in a cash game I could have called but because your tournament life is so important you have to make these hero folds. The only upside was that judging by his reaction he seemed pretty disappointed that I didn't call his turn shove. Near the end of the day I managed to get a lucky double up with ATo when I 3bet shoved it for around 20bbs and got called by AQ. My friends Rhym and Mr Niceness weren't so lucky and both busted out on day one leaving only me and Brother in for day two.

It was good to have a day off between day 1 and 2, myself, Brother, Rhym and Mr N wondered around the Leicester Square area before deciding to have a few drinks and play some 10 pin bowling. Rhym ran well above EV (as he always does) and schooled all of us. We won't talk about where I came in the game.We headed back to the Fox to play some cash, I made a noob live mistake and 5bet shoved QQ Vs a limp cold 4bet thinking the guy only had about 50bbs, needless to say he had 150+bbs and won a nice £600ish pot with KK, I was pretty tilted by this and decided to head off to meet some mates.

Day 2 started well for me with a double up 2nd hand of the day, my KQs Vs 77 all in pre for 20bbs, my stack then dindled away to around 18-20bbs which is when I 3bet shoved AJo Vs Craig McCorkell's hijack open only to get snapped by KK, that was the end of my tournament. I managed to blag some tickets to go see BAMMA at Wembly Arena (thank you PKR), I headed off there with KickOff, SoooSick, Twister86 and WePlayAny2. It was a pretty fun experience (the 5 pints helped). The night ened up with us waiting forever to get a taxi back to the Fox, after finally getting back there I recomerced drinking with all the usual heads. I spent the final day railing Brother and Mr Starch, I'd swapped 10% action with Brother so it was good to see him place a solid 5th. I had a great weekend, it was good fun meeting some of the guys I played against on a regular basis. I'm really bored of writing all this so I'll save the witty photoshop for another day.

I've forgotten how to win at online poker

Feeling pretty tilted right now, that's just shy of 16 BIs I've lost in under 4k hands, mainly 2/4 with a little 5/10, 1/2e and 2/4euro. I'm pretty sure I've made a shit load of mistakes but I've also ran into a lot of coolers.

Stuck, rostucko, restucko, rostucko

Sorry about the lack of updates, I know everyone is desperate to know what Wongaman has been up to. The answer is not much besides poker and enjoying the good weather. I've managed to get the year off to a reasonable start, last month wasn't great but Febuary and March were both pretty good. This month started very well, but the run good came to a very abrupt during my first session today where I managed to drop 2.7k very quickly. After quitting all my tables, I went for a rollerblade at a nearby skatepark with some mates which helped de-tilt me.

The second session of the day was much better, I managed to win back the majority of what I'd lost pretty quickly. After a romantic dinner with my flat mate I rejoined the tables where got myself re-stuck at -2.2k, I stuck with it and finally got back into the green. I was really pleased about this given how horrifically I ran in all in EV today.
